Just In! New NASA Cassini Images of Spewing Saturn Moon
NASA's Cassini spacecraft has successfully imaged Saturn's moon, Enceladus.
Several raw and unprocessed, but fantastic images have been released that were taken during Cassini's close flyby of the moon on November 2. They show vapor jets that spew from the surface of the icy moon's south polar terrain, as caught by the spacecraft's camera system.
The Cassini Equinox Mission is a joint United States and European endeavor. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington, D.C.
The imaging team consists of scientists from the US, England, France, and Germany. The imaging operations center is based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
